SketchUp is a premier 3D design software that truly makes 3D modeling for everyone, with a simple to learn yet robust toolset that empowers you to create whatever you can imagine. PRO If you're a SketchUp Pro user, you can export files in the OBJ format. Wavefront Technologies developed the OBJ file format for its Advanced Visualizer software, and over time, other 3D software developers have adopted the open OBJ format. OBJ files are text-based and support free-form and polygonal geometry. SketchUp Free is one of the most popular free online 3D modeling software programs out there. It is quite easy and many people use it for modifying their 3D objects. You can edit your 3D design online and have SketchUp projects with you wherever you go. Google SketchUp is a free, easy-to-learn 3D-modeling program with a few simple tools to let you create 3D models of houses, sheds, decks, home additions, woodworking projects, and even space ships.

3D Design Programs: Google SketchUp and Tinkercad

Google SketchUp is a 3D Design program that is a complex program that lets the user model out their ideas with the variety of applications there is. For instance, this program is used from the range of architectural to designing a game. This is allows anyone who uses this program to work with tools that are provided by the program to design about anything. In addition, once having the design it can print your model.

In these above images you can see what Google SketchUp can do. Something that this program has is that there are different type of measurements you can use to do certain things. In the above pictures, we can see that

Tinkercad is another 3D Design program that is more simply to use, comparing to Google SketchUp. Anyone can use this program to design about anything. Something that Tinkercad has it's that it has figures, symbols, letters -- to name a few -- pre-designed for the user to use.
As we can see in the image below, these are some features that Tinkercad has predesigned for the users to use without creating any other thing.
the features consist of. For instance, I clicked on the feature heading called, Geometric. In this feature tab it consists of basic shapes. Now, in order for the shape to appear in the coordinate plane what has to be done is that it needs to be drag to the coordinate plane to appear.

In general Tinkercad is a very helpful design program because it has everything predesigned where you can just use these features and play around with it and create new things. Therefore, after having a design they have to make sure everything is connected in order to be able to print the design.
My Design: Cable Holders
The design my team and I are doing is something where the cables can be held together without being in the floor and all over the place. What this is for is for placing the cables in the holders so when you need one of them it is easy to grab and connect it to the device. The reason why we created this is because my group and I had similar situations when looking for cables to connect a device. And we thought, wouldn't it be better if these cable holders where at the corner of the desks where we can easily access them in a manner of time? In addition this can also functions as a cable holder where you can place it inside your pockets in order for it to not be entwined.

In the process I learned that using Tinkercad can be a useful designing program when having basic shapes for the project you want to create. During the process I found it very easy to work with because the shapes were already there. Therefore, the only thing we had to do was drag the shapes or any other object shown in to the coordinate plane. Doing this was not challenging but the only thing that I would say was hard was making sure that the space was even and creating the holes. Based on the image below, the only thing we would change is making it bigger.
I see 3D design/ printing benefiting the future generation of technology in any field such as medical, food, agriculture, etc., by providing easier access. In addition, it would show little demonstrations to other people.

Archicad 16 is the last release of Archicad to support Windows XP and any 32-bit operating system. The next major release of Archicad will be 64-bit only, and will support only 64-bit Operating Systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 8: Discontinued32BitSupport

Some features of the Google Earth Connections Add-On are 32-bit only, therefore these functionalities are not available in the 64-bit version of Archicad. All other functions of the Google Earth Connections Add-on are available on 64-bit, and will be integrated in the next version of Archicad. For more information please visit: Help Center

The Google Earth Connections add-on package enables integration between Archicad, Google Earth, SketchUp and Google 3D Warehouse through .kmz and .skp file formats. Whether you want to create presentations of proposed developments, share a building you've designed, or view a BIM model in context, you'll find the combination of Archicad, Google Earth, SketchUp and the Google 3D Warehouse a powerful way to express your creativity. With this intuitive interface, Archicad users can not only import 3D information for use in their projects, but they can also publish their designs to the world.

Google Earth Connectivity

With Google Earth Connections, you can display your Archicad model in its virtual location in Google Earth. Using this add-on you can also benefit from the placemark and polygon tools of Google Earth since you can import these objects with 3D geographical location information into your Archicad project. You will need these placemarks to export your 3D model back in Google Earth as well.

Import terrain and coordinate information from Google Earth Google search application for desktop.

In the early stage of design even a rough terrain model can significantly help the visualization of the model in its real context. With the help of Google Earth Connections, architects can easily capture terrain and imagery data from Google Earth and use it in Archicad. Snapshot on imac.

With the help of Google Earth Connections, architects can easily export a textured 3D model to Google Earth and create camera animations for a dazzling presentation.

SketchUp

Google

With the SketchUp In/Out capabilities of the Google Earth Connections package, you can exploit the easy-to-use free-form modeling tools of SketchUp. Either you create a custom design element in SketchUp or find an interesting SketchUp model you just want to re-use, simply import it into your Archicad project as a gdl object to further increase the value of your design. Using this add-on users are able to export any Archicad element or the entire 3D model to SketchUp for design development purposes.

Google 3D Warehouse

With the Google 3D Warehouse connection, you can provide architectural context for your project by accessing hundreds of detailed models or share your model with others by uploading it to Google 3D Warehouse.

Import 3D buildings and objects from the Google 3D Warehouse

Google Sketchup 3d Warehouse

On the Google 3D Warehouse site, thousands of royalty free models as well as real or conceptual 3D buildings are available for download. If the architect needs a car or household appliances model for his project, he/she can download it to Archicad with just a few clicks.
